Founded in 1950 by Frederick Dunhour Jr. and Daniel Murphy as Dunhour-Murphy Agency, the office’s first location was on Haddon Avenue in Camden, NJ, where it remained until 1969.

At the time, Camden was a vibrant city of unique neighborhoods, and the Dunhour-Murphy Agency, through Motor Club of America Insurance Company, provided insurance products to a vast array of customers. From personal automobile and homeowners policies, to home and auto loans and motor club memberships, the client base grew tremendously through the beginning years.

At the time of Mr. Murphy’s passing in 1969, the agency moved to Mt. Ephraim. Personal lines growth continued, while concurrently, commercial lines product offerings became more prevalent. Mr. Dunhour also founded MCA Travel, which, though it has been sold, continues to operate today in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Frederick Dunhour III joined the agency in 1979 after graduating from Villanova University and spending several years with the General Accident Insurance Company in Philadelphia. Growth of the agency continued through additional staffing, increased writings and acquisitions, and Mr. Dunhour III purchased the agency in 1988, renaming it Dunhour Agency, Inc. Additional insurance carriers were contracted in order to offer clients more options and to provide a competitive advantage. Janice Dunhour, CPA , joined the agency in 1991 and has added valuable knowledge and perspective.

Since moving to its current location in Haddonfield in 2008, the Dunhour Agency continues to provide the Delaware Valley with a full portfolio of insurance products through its solid, long-term relationships with A.M.
